Who is Construct IT For Business?

Construct IT For Business is an industry-led non-profit making collaborative membership-based network. It comprises leading edge organisations representative of the construction industry supply chain in addition to professional institutes and R&D/academic institutions, whose aim is to improve industry performance through the innovative application of IT and act as a catalyst for academic and industrial collaboration.

The mission of Construct IT is ….

"To be an effective enabling and co-ordinating force (agent) in the application of IT within the construction process as a contribution to innovation and development of best practice".

What are the origins of Construct IT For Business?

Construct IT For Business was formed in 1994 much to the foresight of a leading academic in the field of construction IT in response to the continual echoes from industry expressing the need for an industry-led network organisation/centre of excellence that promoted innovation and co-ordinated research in IT in construction in the UK. In gaining the support of an industry champion and government backing, and following an initial workshop with interested parties to discuss the potential for such a network organisation, the Construct IT network was launched.

Why join Construct IT For Business?

In essence, if Construct IT did not exist then the construction industry would have to create it or alternatively, organisations would have to orchestrate the activity within their own businesses. However, Construct IT does already exist with over 10 year’s experience, which has resulted in numerous outputs benefiting from the contribution of a variety of key stakeholders.
